Active Independence quilt is finally finished for the Flux Rotherham Threads that Connect Us Project.
Our Maltby Art of Wellbeing Group have been working hard over the last few weeks and created the fantatastic collection of squares which have been put together to create one large display. Thank you to everyone who has contributed including Ellen; Sue, Chris; Thira; Jenny Woodward; Carol; Cheryl; Maria; Elaine; Dawn; Munir; Jo Ritson; Fiona and Amanda.
It will be displayed at Riverside House during May with all the other quilts made from Rotherham – please visit and show your support.
The national project quilts will be displayed at Rotherham Minister. The official launch will be on 8th May. Our quilt will then be joining the national tour in June.
Made me leave my comfort zone and do something totally different. I was surprised with the end result as I couldn’t imagine what it would look like. I really enjoyed working on a joint project. I have meet new people and made new friends.

Creating my square has been very enjoyable. I spent a lot the coronavirus madness in my garden. In an odd way this time allowed me to slow down, jump off the merry go ride of a busy life and look, listen and rediscover nature and myself. I found the Threads That Connect US project very enjoyable and reflective. Thank you Fiona.

This square was made by Maria as the title for our quilt … the Threads of Friendship which were made whilst making our quilt

These two squares were designed for Jo to remember her friend Steve who had been involved in the Threads that Connect Us Project and campaigning together.

Sue made this quilt to include sample of bits quilt made by one our past members, Sharon. Sharon made 12 quilts during covid which we will be included in our next batch of quilts. 
Fiona made this square to represent the return to nature during the lockddown.

Jenny made this quilt as representation of the quilt she made for her grand daughter 
This square was made for Kimberley who’s parents spent time in their caravan at home. 
Thira made the square to demonstrate the hope we all felt
