I have 20 years experience in various types of care, starting in 24 hour nursing homes for elderly clients. I have experience using hoists, slide sheets, wheelchairs etc, personal hygiene, meal preparation and feeding clients, social activities, finances i.e. shopping etc, outings and appointments. Also I gained a supporting teaching and learning in schools certificate then went on to work as a teaching assistant in a local school with a pupil who had autism and challenging behaviour. I have also worked with adults/elderly clients who display autism in their own homes supporting with day to day tasks such as personal hygiene routines, meal times, social activities and outings, shopping, cleaning duties etc. My current job is in a 24 hour nursing home for elderly clients who have dementia and alzheimers.
