I have 3-4 years of experience in the role of care/support where I encourage people to reach their full potential whilst supporting them to do so. I have provided personal care, emotional and physical support, used different de-escalation techniques, used many different communication methods such as makaton, symbols, photographs and communication aids personal to the child such as a tablet or a talker. I work in a holistic approach, caring for all of my service users’ needs, putting their own personal needs at the heart of my care to ensure they feel dignified and valued as an individual. I am adaptable due to me working in a number of different settings, firstly I completed an apprenticeship gaining my Level 3 NVQ at the Rotherham hospice providing end of life care and then I went on to work within a supported living house for Sense supporting individuals with SEN to access the community and do fun activities like trampolining, shopping, walking, sports classes and going on trips to the sea side, then went on to work at Maltby Hilltop school supporting children with severe autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy and many more complex disabilities within a class environment, to where I work now, an SEN school in rotherham. I have also worked as a community carer on the side, caring for people in the comfort of their own homes. I have supported many individuals with complex needs and disabilities always giving it 100% as it is what I love to do. I have a 7 year old nephew with autism that I have loved seeing grow and develop into the person he is today who struggled with talking and so that motivates me to help others like him. As I work school hours I am limited in what I can work, but I am willing to work 4 hours on either a Saturday or Sunday and a couple of hours on a weekday evening if needed. I can work extra hours in the school holidays if needed.
