Following an eighteen month battle we finally supported a Disabled woman to get onto a Direct Payment and employ her own PAs. She wrote:<\/p>\n
\u201cWell it is 2013 now and I am starting this year feeling happy, I had forgotton what it was like to be happy. I haven’t felt like this in years! I have had my PA’s since the end of November 2012 and what a difference it has made to my life. You were so right to say to me that I would be gaining more independence, because that is what I actually feel. It has taken so much pressure off my dear Mum and Dad because they have had to help me to a certain degree. It has made me feel awful and I have\u00a0tried to manage as best I can because I have been worried, they both havn’t been well, my Dad is 80, Mum 78. I have more energy & now going out is no longer a chore.<\/p>\n
I am a normal happy go lucky\u00a0me who enjoys life, I am becoming the person I want to be. I truly had forgotton what it was like to feel like this!!<\/p>\n
May I please say thank you to Active Independence! Where would we be without your kind of people, I now realise just how unhappy, stressed,\u00a0nervous of life that I was, I wasn’t enjoying it at all. I had a lot of sadness, certainly not a healthy way to live, a constant struggle in every aspect! I\u00a0really like this new\u00a0way\u00a0of living,\u00a0how many people like me had forgotton what happiness is and to know that we deserve it!
