What do you think of the new Disability Living Allowance?

Leonard Cheshire Disability Campaigns is urging disabled people to respond to the government consultation on the new Personal Independence Payment (PIP)

The Welfare Reform Act 2012, which passed in March, introduces a new benefit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP). PIP replaces Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for people aged 16-64. Both DLA and the new benefit PIP are designed to help disabled people meet the extra costs that they face.

The government plans to retest everyone aged 16-64 who receives DLA at some point from April 2013 to see if they qualify for the new benefit. The government has created a draft of the test that will be used to decide if people qualify and wants to know what you think about it. If you receive DLA, this is an important chance to make sure your views on the new test are heard.

To respond, you can answer this series of questions by Wednesday 25 April and we will use the information to help write our response to the government. Or, you can respond directly to the government’s consultation – the deadline for that is 30 April.
