Research project: Direct Payment recipient and Personal Assistants

Do you receive Direct Payments and employ a Personal Assistant (PA)?  Or are you a PA employed by a Direct Payment recipient? If so, we would like to hear from you.

This research project is investigating how people who receive direct payments recruit their PA, their employment relationship, and what might encourage a PA to stay with a Direct Payment recipient as an employee.  We would like to know what works, what can be challenging and what are the support needs.

The project is being undertaken by ekosgen (a social research organisation) and is being funded by Skills for Care.  It has been approved by the Department of Health and the South West Wales Social Care Research Ethics Committee

There are a range of ways you can contribute your views.  You could take part in an interview, either by telephone or face-to-face, in which case one of our interviewers will come out to see you.  We are also offering £20 to everyone who participates in this way.

Alternatively, you can complete an online or postal questionnaire.  We are entering all completed questionnaires into a prize draw with a chance to win a £200 voucher for a shop of your choice.

If you would like to take part in the study, please contact Sundeep, Laura or Carolyn at ekosgen by phone (tel: 0114 2751056) or email:
