Supporting Age UK’s “Care in Crisis” Campaign

Age UK has produced a report about the crisis in funding for the care and support of Disabled and older people. They show that spending for this year is over half £1 billion short of what is needed to maintain current services but as the numbers of older people increase this funding gap will only get worse. Already thousands of older and disabled people struggle without any support or are charged into poverty to pay for essential care.

Age UK and disability organisations are urging all parties to engage in open and constructive cross party talks to try to reach a settlement to reform the legal structure of social care and more urgently the crisis in funding.

Active Independence is backing Age UK ‘Care in Crisis’ campaign. Please sign up to their petition at www.ageuk.org.uk/careincrisis, or visit www.ageuk.org.uk to find out more about the report and to download a copy.
