I currently work part time supporting an elderly couple live independently in their own home. One of the clients had advanced dementia/Alzheimer’s.
My duties include helping with personal care tasks including eating, washing, dressing, toileting, changing pads, cooking and prepare meals. I also help with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry and shopping.
I assist the couple attend social events/days out in the community and visiting friends and family up and down the country. I drive them to wherever they need to go and back if required. I have arranged and participated in hobbies/activities and holidays.
I am responsible for paying bills and other household management tasks as well as gaining access to doctors, dentists or hospital appointments.
I feel I am fit and healthy enough to carry out all tasks required to work as a PA/Carer, reliable and honest, good at listening and communicating, Imaginative and creative, willing to learn new skills and proficient in reading, writing and numeracy skills.
I can supply support for basic day to day care needs, relate well to others, work well with others, work unsocial hours, work independently and manage time well, manage stressful situations and deal with them calmly.
