Quick Update

Building the Road to Independence

If you have not received the consultative document from DMBC titled Building the Road to Independence, accompanied with a questionnaire for you to fill in, please contact Active Independence for a copy. This is an important document laying out the route of Adult Social Care in Doncaster in the future years so please read through the document, answer the questionnaire putting your views and post it back using the post paid envelope (…it’s not very often we get something free from DMBC!).

Two dates for your diary

Come along and chat to the professionals about this.

Active Independence will be providing, tea, coffee, scones and biscuits, to help the afternoon along. If you’re interested, contact us via our website or call me on 01302 743200 to book a place.

January 28th
Building the Road to Independence Public Debate. To be held at Salvation Army Hall, Lakeside, Doncaster at 1:00pm. This is a public debate organised by HealthWatch Doncaster, to discuss the DMBC document mentioned above. It’s a chance for you to put forward your views on the proposals it lays down.

Thank you!

As Christmas is nearly upon us, I think we all would like to say a BIG thank you to all our PAs for their continuous high standard of care they provide to us throughout the year. Without their dedication our lives and health would not be of the standard we enjoy at the moment.

Our care needs do not change because its Christmas Day, Boxing day, New Years Day. Of course PAs are aware of this, but could I please respectfully suggest that when doing the rota for Christmas week we all remember PA’s have families too and it’s Christmas for them also. Possibly discussing your care requirements in advance, ie: a change from the usual routine of a normal day to just making sure our basic needs are met during this period will help to eliminate the stress and tensions that can occur over this festive period.

Sadly we do not get an increase in our Direct Payment monies to enable us to pay a enhanced hourly rate of pay to our PAs over Christmas, maybe another reason to consider our much valued PAs time.

From the Active Independence team; Barbara, Dawn, Roz, Helen, Angela, Shaun, Jo, Stuart, Fiona, Philip, Pauline, Jeanette, Tonya, Nicky, & myself can I take this opportunity to wish you all a Healthy Christmas and a New Year that through a Direct Payment enables you to fulfil some of your future goals, and that we at Active Independence are able to continue providing the support you richly deserve.

Happy Christmas
Brian.
