Medical Exemption Certificates – don’t get charged!

A recent article on the Diabetes UK website highlighted the importance of making sure your Medical Exemption Certificate is kept up-to-date or you may find yourself with a hefty £100 plus fine!

It appears that the Business Service Authority, which took control of checking and administering the certificates in 2002, is cracking down on any perceived fraud of the NHS. If you did not have  a certificate before that date you will not be registered on their system and will not receive reminders to do so.

Medical exemption certificates are issued to people with long-term health conditions such as diabetes. If you are unsure if you qualify then ask your GP for a form FP92A
